Fishmate Filters And UV Lights - Low Cost Gravity Fish Pond Filter
Fishmate (Animate) produce a range of world famous, low cost gravity fish pond filter that are available with an integrated UV and are designed for external pond use. These external gravity pond filter models are colored green to match in with the surroundings and fitted with an easy to remove lid for access to filter internals.
The Fishmate Filters UV range consists of 3 UV models: Fishmate Compact, Fishmate Medium & Fishmate Large. These "Gravity Discharge Filters" need to be situated at the highest elevation possible and near the pond edge; usually at the top of a waterfall. This allows water to flow back into the pond using gravity.
Fish Mate Filters UV range combines UV sterilization (UV Clarification) with excellent biomechanical filtration to produce crystal clear, purified pond water. The mechanical filter section contains a series of profiled filter sponges that traps the algae clumps and other larger debris (leaves, grass etc) ... These sponges are easily cleaned by rinsing in clean water ... After pond debris is filtered out by the profiled sponges the biological part of the filter comes into play.
The biological container is full of Fishmate Supra Pond Filter Media. This powerful biomedia (pond filter media) has 45 times the surface area of standard plastic coils. This encourages larger colonies of beneficial bacteria to develop, resulting in a much more efficient ammonia and nitrite removing biofilter.
